UAE’s Group 42 to drive Mauritania’s digital journey
UAE-founded Group 42, an AI and cloud computing firm, is partnering with Mauritania to accelerate digital transformation in the North African country.
The two parties recently signed an agreement, and under this deal, Group 42 and its subsidiaries G42 Cloud and Presight will work closely with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernisation to develop digital capabilities.
The partnership will focus on establishing a national data centre, the sovereign cloud, and drive other digital transformation initiatives.
Group 42 was founded in 2018 in Abu Dhabi, and develops AI solutions for the government sector, healthcare, finance, oil and gas, aviation and hospitality.
The company says in Mauritania, the partnership goes beyond infrastructure development and as it seeks to develop capable local talent.
Group 42 says it will nurture technologically skilled professionals within Mauritania's digital ecosystem and empower its citizens.
“We recognise the profound impact digital transformation has on citizens and communities, and our commitment lies in utilising the sovereign cloud, big data analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to drive inclusive growth and bring about positive societal change for Mauritanians," says Thomas Pramotedham, CEO, Presight.
Moctar Ahmed Yedaly, Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernisation of the Administration, welcomed the alliance affirming Mauritania’s goal for digital transformation.
