AfICTA's new board introduced at Summit
Part of its agenda for its 3rd summit and the first to be hosted in South Africa, the Africa Information & Communication Technologies Alliance (AfICTA) held a strategy session and annual general meeting during which a new board was elected.
Dr Jimson Olufuye, chief executive officer of ICT solutions provider Kontemporary in Nigeria, was re-elected as chairman, while Adrian Schofield, IITPSA South Africa, was elected as vice-chairman.
A statement by AfICTA added that Gbenga Fijabi, Great Financiers Consulting from Nigeria has been elected as the treasurer, and will join other elected board members including: Sunil Geness, SAP South Africa; Dr Waudo Siganga, CSK Kenya; Engr Hossam Elgamal, GNSE Egypt; Engr Lanre Ajayi, ATCON Nigeria; Arinola Akinyemi, Digisphere Nigeria; Tanya Sims, CompTIA, South Africa; Paul Rowney ICT-PAN, Namibia; Alaa Ahmed Fouad Kamal El Khishen, Eccoosourcing, Egypt; and Engr Adetola Sogbesan, ChaceSystems, Nigeria.
Dr Olufuye thanked the hosts and said "Information Technology Association (ITA), IITPSA, SAP , and WITS have done a great job and have made the rest of Africa proud".
He commended Adrian Schofield and Sunil Geness in particular for their vision and commitment to ICT transformed Africa.
Established in May 2012, AfICTA is a concerned private sector led alliance of ICT Associations, multi-national Corporations, companies, organisations and individuals in the ICT sector in Africa.
The organisation was established to propel innovation and fulfil the promise of digital social and economic transformation in Africa.
The 3r AfICTA Summit, under the theme ICT: Lighting the way to development and prosperity across Africa, concludes in Braamfontein, Johannesburg today.
