MTN announces 50% off price of fibre broadband

In a move to enhance its competitiveness, mobile operator MTN has cut the prices of its Supersonic fibre data bundles by 50%.

In a statement the company outlined its data bundle options which include 100GB at 20Mbps for a monthly subscription of R764, 500GB at 20Mbps at R1 199, and 1000GB at 20Mbps at R1 479.

Customers can also select 50Mbps and 100Mbps options.

MTN also said customers who sign up on a Supersonic 24-month contract before 1 October will receive free installation, free router and bonus data bundles.

It has also reduced the installation fee for its month-to-month contracts from R3 000 to R999.

Alpheus Mangale, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Business, referenced plans to bolster the operators local network capacity.

"The R12 billion capital expenditure that MTN has committed in this financial year will bode well for our quest to build high performing networks and will bolster our ability to provide our customers with a seamless network experience," he said.

MTN's fibre network footprint covers Gauteng, Western Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Eastern Cape provinces.
