Electronics giant Samsung has unveiled a smart school initiative at the Ahfad University for Women in Khartoum, Sudan.
The school is planned to be a fully integrated one-on-one learning facility for students providing immediate and reliable data access, according to Samsung Electronics Africa.
According to smartphone maker the school comes equipped with 30 workstations, a file server and an interactive e-board for the benefit of both students and teachers.
“Sudan’s future rests on the potential of its youth, and how much of that potential is unlocked”, said Kyoung Il Min, managing director, Samsung Sudan.
He added, “With this in mind, we are very pleased to be able to contribute to changing the face of teaching and learning in Sudan by bringing our solutions to schools like the Ahfad University for Women.”
Samsung’s smart school initiative is also expected to allow an interactive management solution - whereby teachers deliver content to students, share screens, monitor student progress and conduct group activities and run tests.
Kea’ Modimoeng, public affairs manager Samsung Electronics Africa added, “While technology alone cannot ensure quality education, it is critical that students in Sudan are immersed in a technology-rich environment from as early on as possible.”
Modimoeng concluded, “This will not only expose them to the new, essential tools of the world of work and give them access to well-paying jobs, but will ultimately allow Sudan to compete on the global stage and drive economic development for the whole country.”
