The tripartite partnership will help accelerate the deployment of e-bikes.

Subilo Energy has joined with Engie Energy and Spartan Industries, a supplier of electric vehicles, to offer e-mobility in rural Zambia.

The trio stated that, as e-mobility gains traction around the world, Zambia continues to make significant progress in lowering CO2 emissions not only in urban but also rural areas.

As a result, the tripartite partnership will help accelerate the deployment of e-bikes (both two and three wheelers) to recently commissioned solar mini-grids in Zambia's eastern province.

Subilo will deploy and set up battery charging and switch stations for e-bikes, Engie will furnish and provide electricity through its mini solar grids, which are now being built around the country, and Spartan will supply e-bikes.

In a statement, Subilo said: “The first battery charging and swap stations have been successfully deployed in Chataika village situated 40km away from Petauke and 25km away from Sinda in Eastern province.

“Equally Engie has successfully installed a 100Kw solar mini-grid which will provide much needed Electricity to the community in the village as well as Subilo’s battery charging and swap stations. Spartan Industries has further availed and deployed e-bikes to the community of Chataika.”

It added: “With this new deployed infrastructure people of Chataika will be able to charge or swap their e-bike batteries bringing about efficiency and cost savings to their operations and daily lives.”
