MultiChoice Botswana has revived its partnership with the country’s ministry of education skills and development, as it has rolled out its DStv educational bouquet to 26 local schools.
The development comes three years after the company implemented 20 MultiChoice Resource Centres around the country in 2009.
Tshepo Maphanyane, MultiChoice Botswana publicity and public relations executive, said the project could help students access educational channels and enhanced learning.
He added that teachers can incorporate the programmes in their teaching methodologies.
Maphanyane said the equipment – television set, DStv high definition decoder, dish and accessories are handed over free to these schools and maintained by MultiChoice.
“As long as the school utilises the equipment, MultiChoice will have an ongoing relationship with the school, providing access to education bouquet,” said Maphanyane.
Commenting on the development, Botswana’s principal education officer, Kenneth Mogapi, has said the programme could enhance teaching and learning activities in schools.
“Sometimes it’s good to see what has been taught, the child gets clear understanding of what is being taught,” said Mogapi, adding that the programme is not there to replace the teacher but complement and assist where necessary.
“The DStv educational bouquet aims to enhance and enrich the teaching and learning experience of both teachers and students,” he added.
The DStv Education Bouquet comprises a premium collection of educational and informative programmes provided through channels such as Mindset Learn, Discovery World, National Geographic, History Channel, BBC Knowledge, National Geo Wild, Animal Planet and BBC World.
