Airtel Nigeria, a telecommunications operator, has teamed up with Mobihealth International, a telehealth service provider, to improve healthcare access for millions of Nigerians, particularly those in underserved communities.

The agreement, which was finalised at Airtel Nigeria's headquarters in Lagos, marks a significant milestone in addressing healthcare challenges in the country through digital technologies.

This collaboration aims to provide affordable, round-the-clock access to Mobihealth's telemedicine services, enabling Nigerians to connect with licensed healthcare professionals through their mobile phones.

Mobihealth’s platform includes 24/7 teleconsultations, prescription services, medication delivery, and access to international medical specialists.

The partnership leverages Airtel's network infrastructure, which will help Mobihealth extend its reach to rural and remote areas, ensuring that vulnerable populations can access quality healthcare services.

Dr Funmi Adewara, founder and CEO of Mobihealth, described the collaboration as a significant step towards democratising healthcare in Africa.

She said: “Together, we will provide a lifeline to millions facing barriers to timely, affordable, and quality medical care. Our telehealth platform will ensure convenient access to qualified doctors, diagnostics, and treatments.”

The companies believe the initiative marks a pivotal moment in enhancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
