Telecash enables Bulawayo city bill payments

Residents of Zimbabwean city Bulawayo can use mobile money service Telecash to pay their municipal bills.

Mobile operator Telecel says in a statement it has switched on the service for Bulawayo after introducing a similar offering in Harare.

Telecel, which is Zimbabwe’s second largest mobile network, says this move could cut queues for Bulawayo residents.

Bulawayo residents are able to dial a USSD code to access a Telecash menu to pay their municipal bills. Residents then also need to have their account numbers available and a personal identification number.

“Once payment has been made the subscriber will receive a unique transaction ID that can be quoted, like a receipt number, in the event of any query. The transaction will be registered almost instantaneously as a credit on the subscriber’s account with the City of Bulawayo,” says Telecel in a statement.
