Telkom cuts prices on prepaid data

South African telecommunications services provider Telkom has announced reductions on prepaid data packages following the consolidation of its Telkom Mobile bundles and All Network bundles into a single set of prepaid mobile options.

In a statement released on Monday 22 June the service provider said consumers will have national network coverage with all packages, including roaming on the MTN network outside Telkom's coverage.

The telco announced a reduced out-of-bundle data rate of 29c per MB for prepaid customers.

Attila Vitai, Telkom managing director: consumer and mobile services, said, "We have revised and simplified our data bundles in order to provide the best value and service to our customers. We believe everyone should have access to the data they need, when they need it."

Another change initiated by the company includes the replacement of the previous 2GB + 1GB, 25GB + 25GB and the 60GB + 60GB bundles with the 3GB, 20GB and 50GB internet bundles respectively.

The revised prepaid data bundles will be valid until the end of the next calendar month.
