DStv payments activated for Telecash Zimbabwe users

Customers of Zimbabwean mobile money offering Telecash can now pay for their DStv subscriptions using the service.

This is according to a press statement from mobile operator Telecel, which launched Telecash earlier this year to rival Econet’s EcoCash service.

To make a DStv payment, Telecash subscribers can dial *888# to access to the Telecash menu and choose the ‘pay bill’ option.

Following that, Telecash users can then select ‘DStv’ as the service provider they want to pay and enter their account number, the amount they want to pay and their personal identification number (PIN). No biller code is required, says Telecel.

Telecel notes that payment is instant and occurs in real-time. Once payment has been made, the subscriber also receives a unique transaction ID that can be quoted, like a receipt number, for any queries.

“There is no longer any need to go and queue to make your payment,” said Telecel Zimbabwe mobile financial services director Nkosinathi Ncube.

“Moreover, there is no need to have to memorise a biller code every month when you need to make a payment,” said Ncube.

Telecash is also geared for subscribers to transfer money to any mobile phone user on any network in the country, paying bills, and buying goods and services.
