Sony readies to unveil products in SA

Consumer and home electronics manufacturer, Sony, has unveiled an array of products that will be available in South Africa in the coming weeks.

Among such products the company will roll out include a range of tablets, Xperia smartphones, ultrabook, projector Handycam, Cybershot cameras, 3D binoculars and the first 4K digital cinema cameras as well as the latest version of its popular VAIO mobile computer.

Other products that are on their way to the continent are the Mgongo Sound System, scheduled for July, and Sony Google TV.

Sony representatives in Johannesburg said its plans to unveil the products in a bid to maintain its market share in the country, as the Japanese firm has been reeling from a fourth successive year of global losses.

“South Africa is a highly competitive market where consumers appreciate quality.

"We aim to enhance our position as the market leader in the home audio, gaming, home theatres systems among other,” said Jason Smith, head of product marketing, Sony South Africa.
