Airtel plans to invest $14 million over the next six months to build 152 communication towers in Zambia.

This is in partnership with IHS Towers, one of the world's largest digital infrastructure providers.

Hussam Baday, Airtel Zambia's Managing Director, stated that the tower's rollout is intended to improve network quality and expand coverage for the mobile network operator.

"We are going to expand our coverage population," he said.

Baday was speaking late Wednesday during a meeting with minister of technology and science, Felix Mutati.

Baday announced a goal of increasing population coverage from 91.6 percent to 93 percent by next year (2026), and then to 95 and 96 percent within two years.

Responding to Airtel's managing director, Mutati stated that the tower rollout would improve access and availability of mobile services in the Southern African country.

He welcomed the collaboration between the private and public sectors in promoting growth in the information and communication technology industry.

"We are excited as a government that within six months we are going to add 152 towers," Mutati said..
