Minit Money, a blockchain-based remittance app, announced Friday the launch of its first Southern Africa remittance corridor, allowing Zambians living in South Africa to send money home.

Speaking at the Africa Fintech Summit in Lusaka, last week, Minit Money co-founder and CEO Angus Brown said: "We have experienced significant growth in our existing corridors of Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Cameroon, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast and Kenya and the Zambia launch marks our first foray into the Southern Africa region."

South Africa and Zambia have a strong economic link, according to the business.

According to the company, its platform leverages blockchain technology to make sending money easier, quicker and cheaper.

It says: "The launch of the South Africa to Zambia corridor is set to create significant savings for users, improve sending speeds and provide a seamless user experience for Zambians living in South Africa."
