Telecom providers in Sudan are working together to provide connectivity to aid workers.

Sudan's National Telecoms Corporation (NTC) and Sudatel have partnered to provide connectivity to relief workers in the war-torn country.

The alliance joins other partners, such as the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC), in working to restore connectivity after the ongoing war destroyed telecom infrastructure, leaving the majority of Sudan with connectivity problems and internet blackouts since the crisis began in early 2023.

The ETC has stepped in to keep relief workers linked, allowing them to respond more efficiently to the crisis that has uprooted millions and resulted in disease outbreaks and famine.

ETC said that discussions with NTC resulted in plans to import essential supplies such as radios and network infrastructure in small batches to increase resilience to connectivity difficulties.

"ETC is continuing to collaborate closely with Sudatel on the undersea cable and local loop project,"said Richard Egwangu, ETC coordinator.
