MTN Group strengthens board with new appointment
Africa’s biggest telecom provider MTN Group has appointed Sandile Gwala as an independent non-executive director effective January 1, 2025.
Gwala is the co-founder and CEO of a business consultation firm that services both local and international clients.
He earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Natal in South Africa, according to MTN Group
The telco says Gwala formerly worked as a group executive director and partner with Deloitte in South Africa, as well as in the United Kingdom and Denmark.
According to MTN's statement on the appointment: “Sandile is a non-executive director and member of several board subcommittees for Harambe, a non-profit organisation. He was also a non-executive director at the business services industry association Business Process Enabling South Africa.
“Sandile will provide extensive experience and knowledge in accounting, finance, and company performance. The chairman and the board are looking forward to his substantial contribution to MTN's continued growth."
