Zimbabwean technology company, Tano Digital Solutions, having just completed the acquisition of JSE-listed Altron’s operations in Mozambique and Botswana, is recruiting senior staff for its regional expansion drive.

Tano, an IT and digital solutions company, was awarded a contract to implement SAP for the Posts and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) in 2022.

The company experienced a setback when the country’s High Court nullified its tender for the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (Zimdef) citing irregularities.

However, the Altron acquisition is considered a boost for the company’s expansion strategy and it has already received the green light from regulatory authorities in the respective countries, with transfer of ownership effective at the end of last year.

Tech blogger Edwin Chabuka, said, “The recent acquisition further expands Tano’s presence in Mozambique, while growing its regional business.”

Tano already has operations in Botswana, as well as offices in Zimbabwe and Johannesburg.

An industry insider who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “This adds onto their footprint in the region and speaks of their thorough knowledge of the regional market as a company that’s growing. The company has been recruiting for the regional operations and this gives them the edge to quickly set-up and consolidate.”

He added that Tano is expanding its portfolio beyond Zimbabwe as the Southern African country is continues to be impacted by economic difficulties and intense competition.

Tano Managing Director Wallen Mangere s is quoted by local media as saying: “The takeover of Altron gives Tano a strong presence in the financial services sector, especially in Botswana and Mozambique, where all the major banks are now our customers. The acquisition brings new product offerings in the form of various OEM partnerships like Oracle NCR, CISCO, XEROX.”
