MTN fintech South Sudan is expanding its financial offerings, and last week the telco released a new school fee payment solution.

The company said the will make it easier and more economical for parents and guardians to pay school fees.

According to MTN South Sudan, this service allows customers to pay school tuition using their phones and easily track payments and receipts.

The service can be accessed using the MoMo short code *200*3*2#.

Parents or guardians can deposit money into their MoMo wallet, dial the short code, enter the child’s student number to view the due amount, and complete the payment.

An SMS summarising the payment will be sent, which can be used for tracking and reconciliation. Schools will receive notifications of payments and update student accounts accordingly.

The telco added: “This product is anticipated to revolutionise how South Sudanese families handle school fee payments, making it a smoother, safer, and more accessible process.”

MTN fintech South Sudan CEO Francis Matseketsa, said: “We have launched an initiative that offers convenience to parents and guardians to pay school fees via MoMo (Mobile Money) rather than using cash."

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, David Lowela Ladu, director general of basic and secondary education, commended MTN for its approach to contributing to the country's development through technology.
