
Fibre connectivity is planned to reach 600,000 Egyptians in 120,000 housing units across a 33 million square metre property development thanks to a key telecoms deal having been struck.
Fixed line operator Telecom Egypt has inked an agreement with the ‘Arab Company for Projects and Urban Development’, a subsidiary of Talaat Moustafa Group Holding (TMGH), to build a next generation network for the country’s ‘Madinaty’ project.
Madinaty is a new city being built east of Cairo. Villas, apartment buildings, golf courses and business centres are being built on the property.
And world-class communication networks, using fibre optic technology, are also set to be a feature of the development.
"The implementation of the ‘Madinaty’ project's network will serve to further enhance Telecom Egypt’s position as one of the pioneers in the implementation and construction of next generation network for new cities that, importantly, enable end-users to get higher internet speeds of up to 10 GB/s," said Mohamed El-Nawawy, managing director and chief executive officer of Telecom Egypt.
Eng. Tamer Gadallah, Telecom Egypt’s head of enterprise business, added, "Signing this agreement allows us to build next generation network which will enable residents in ‘Madinaty’ to take advantage of sophisticated services such as triple play,interactive internet based TV, video conference and high quality voice calls.”
"This project will be rolled out in several stages in order to build a network that allows voice and data services alongside entertainment, advertising and security applications.ADSL services will also be provided by te's internet arm, the leader of high-speed internet provider in Egypt. In addition to a variety of new services coming soon for all Madinaty residents," Gadallah said.
