In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), mobile network service provider Orange has slashed the prices of its services and products.

Cameroon has registered 56 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, as of 23 March 2020, according to the country’s Minister of Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie.

On 21 March 2020 the telco said it would reduce the cost of residential internet by 30% to assist subscribers in following news developments and remain up to date.

The company has also reduced the cost of its USB internet keys by 50%, with the price of its 3G internet key falling to FCFA 2,450 and 4G internet key reduced to FCFA 4,950.

According to a statement released by the company, it has suspended charges for unlimited number of operations within its Orange Money network. “Payment of water bills using Orange Money will be off charge. This will permit the population to systematically wash their hands in total serenity.”

Through its corporate social responsibility foundation, Orange said it will donate medical equipment worth FCFA 100 million to the country’s Health Ministry.

The company’s gesture follows similar moves made by other multinational companies operating in the country, including MTN Cameroon, to support the National Plan to fight Coronavirus.
