MTN tops Nigeria’s advertising spend

Mobile operator MTN Nigeria topped the highest list of spenders on advertising in the West African nation with over $4 million in 2011, according to independent media agency, MediaReach OMD.

Telcos, which include the the likes of MTN and Globacom, have spent $12.518 million of the country’s total $22.750 above-the-line advertising spend in 2011, says MediaReach OMD in its annual report entitled Mediafacts. Above-the-line advertising targets mass media such as print, broadcast and outdoor.

The report has said that Nigeria recorded an increase of 5.3% regarding the sum spent on above-the-line advertising activities in 2011 versus the previous year.
