Visiosoft, French Kinéis turn to IoT to provide connectivity
Visiosoft, a Cape Town-based technology company, is working with French firm Kinéis to bridge the connectivity gap using a satellite Internet of Things (IoT) solution.
Kinéis, founded in 2018, is a new French space company, satellite operator, and global connectivity provider for IoT and Automatic Identification Systems.
Visiosoft, which launched in 2017 financed by the EPF Tech Fund and recently obtained funding from Savant Venture Fund, provides cloud-based sensor data via a range of IoT devices and sensors for big data assimilation in smart business and industrial applications.
The parties are now collaborating, asserting that 85% of the earth's surface lacks terrestrial network coverage, posing operational issues for industries that rely on real-time information.
According to the companies, this partnership will result in a global, satellite-powered solution that enables seamless data transmission, even in the most remote areas where traditional networks fail.
The companies contend that by combining Visiosoft's current IoT technologies with Kinéis' satellite network, they will be able to monitor, track, and optimise operations from anywhere in the globe, including remote mining sites, offshore oil rigs, supply chains, and precision agriculture fields.
According to a joint statement, with Kinéis' recent launch of 25 nanosatellites, the future of global IoT connection is poised to become more reliable, cost-effective, and globally accessible.
It reads: “This next-generation constellation will expand coverage, accelerate data transmission speeds, and unlock new opportunities for industries operating in the most challenging environments.”
“Every now and then, we see a true industry shift. This partnership between a global South and a global North player is one of those moments,” said Savant Partner, Thaheer Mullins.
Johan Dirker, Visiosoft, CEO, added: “By integrating Visiosoft’s cutting-edge IoT solutions with Kinéis’ advanced satellite network, we bring global, uninterrupted sensor data to industries that need it most – regardless of their location.
“Globally, businesses in agriculture, mining, logistics, and beyond can now monitor, track, and optimize operations in real-time. It’s an exciting step forward for South African-born innovation with a truly global impact.”
For Kinéis the solution developed by Visiosoft enables it to provide our service with a unique level of performance.
It added: “The flexibility of the solution enables it to interface with existing monitoring systems and all sensors and probes on the market. This makes a considerable contribution to guaranteeing operations and reducing the resources required for industrial activities”
