Advantech satellite distributor opens in Western Cape

Tactile Technologies has teamed up with Gauteng-based Centurion Micro Electronics (CME), the official supplier of Advantech industrial PC products in South Africa, to become CME`s regional distributor and support hub in the Western Cape.

CME owner Peet Smit said the two companies had often worked together in the past, so this new move was a natural progression of their existing relationship.

"We have often found ourselves collaborating to build a solution for a client who needed a customised appliance combining a Tactile touch product with one of CME`s industrial PCs or Advantech`s embedded solutions," explained Smit.

The nature and complexity of the technology in which Tactile Technologies specialises are very similar to those of CME and Advantech, Smit said. He was thus confident that Mercuri`s team was well equipped to support CME clients in Cape Town and surrounds.

The geographic position of a reputable operation such as Tactile Technologies also made it ideal for CME to extend the reach of its Advantech product range into the Cape.

Advantech is one of the top three industrial PC companies worldwide and the largest supplier from the East, offering a complete selection of integrated solutions from industrial automation and medical computing to home automation.

Tactile Technologies MD Mauro Mercuri said there was a definite synergy between the Elo TouchSystems products in which his company specialises, and many of the Advantech products being imported into South Africa.
