icolo.io, a provider of carrier neutral colocation services in Africa, announced that it will begin construction on its second datacentre in Kenya.

According to the service provider, the new datacentre - or NB01 - is located in Nairobi and follows the construction of its first datacentre in Mombasa.

In October 2018 icolo.io said the hyperconnected Tier III development in Miritini, Mombasa provides over 550m2 of IT space and 675KW of IT load to 226 cabinets to serve telecom carriers, ISPs, IT, global cloud and content providers, as well as enterprise and financial services institutions.

NB01 is scheduled for completion in August 2019 and the company said it will host over 250 racks, provide for over 624m2 of rack space and accommodate 825kW of IT power.

In a statement the company explained, "The architectural design of the datacentre sits on a 4,400m2 area ensuring redundant power complete with back-up generators which are DCC certified, N+2 high precision cooling and pre-cabled inter connects. The entire infrastructure will be concurrently maintainable."
