Old Mutual Namibia customers gain card transaction control

Namibia's Old Mutual clients will now be able to switch their OMCARDs on and off for specific transactions using a mobile phone.

According to a statement Tranwall Limited has partnered with Payment Express (PEX) Mauritius to implement Tranwall Transaction Control for OMCARD holders.

And the Tranwall Transaction Control is expected to help secure OMCARDS using mobile telephony.

OMCARD is a prepaid Visa card specifically designed for Old Mutual's customers.

The card provides customers with a cash-back rewards programme and the ability to link up to four additional cards for their family members.

The statement further explains that the project is unique to Namibia as it would offer customers control and convenience.

Tranwall Transaction Control enables two-way communication with cardholders using USSD, SMS or the Tranwallet smart phone application, the statement notes.

Additionally, Tranwall Transaction Control provides second-factor authentication to secure OMCARD internet banking, it was stated.

Ben Jacobs, operations executive at Old Mutual Namibia said, "In launching the OMCARD, we wanted to deliver a secure, easy to use and innovative product that is of value to our customers.

"... Customers are excited about managing their own card security and we believe that the on-going value of self-service and self-secure technology from Tranwall will continue to improve the customer experience," Jacobs added.
