MTN suffers complete network outage in Sudan
MTN Sudan has suffered a complete network outage after its main switch sites in Manshia & Garden City shut down due to fuel shortage and grid power cut.
The mobile operator announced the outage today, while promising subscribers it is “working diligently to resolve the situation as soon as possible.”
MTN Sudan network outage comes at a time the country is experiencing massive civil unrest due to the on-going fight between the military and paramilitary forces.
In a statement, MTN said: “The company fully understands the impact this may have on communication needs and extends its apologies for any inconvenience experienced during this challenging time.
“We are working hard with the concerned authorities to find immediate solutions. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work towards restoring our network and services”
A recent Surfshark report ranked Sudan and Ethiopia leading countries in Africa with the highest number of internet disruptions.
According the company’s latest internet shutdown tracker report, Sudan and Ethiopia lead the list, both countries had 12 internet disruptions each.
The report examined partial and total shutdowns across the world and highlights the impact of every major internet blackout or shutdown.
