Google maps Lesotho with Street View

The tiny landlocked African country of Lesotho has become the 50th nation in the world to be mapped by search giant Google’s panoramic Street View service.

Surrounded by South Africa, Lesotho is a mountainous country which Google says is the “only independent state that sits entirely 1,000m or more above sea level.”

Lesotho has a population of just over 2 million people, according to the World Bank.

Imagery captured by Google of Lesotho includes 360 degree views of its lakes and winding roads.

“Today, we’ve reached 50 countries with the launch of Street View in Lesotho and Hungary and are significantly expanding our coverage in Poland and Romania, among other locations around the world,” says Google on its Africa blog.

“This is also the largest single update of Street View imagery we’ve ever pushed, including new and updated imagery for nearly 350,000 miles of roads across 14 countries,” adds Google.
