Heifer International, a global technology and innovation NGO, has pledged its support to young African inventors using technology to combat hunger on the continent.

This comes ahead of the Africa Food Systems Forum 2024, which is planned to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from September 2 to 6.

The event brings together thousands of industry executives, policymakers, innovators, development agencies, private sector leaders, farmers, and agri-preneurs to debate the sector's essential issues and prospects.

Heifer announced that it would attend the meeting with many young innovators from six African countries with whom the organisation had been working to enhance their solutions to benefit smallholder farmers across the continent.

“We are inspired by the incredible contributions that young visionary African innovators can make towards transforming our food systems and we are actively backing their innovations,” said Adesuwa Ifedi, senior vice president, Africa programmes at Heifer International.

Ifedi stated that through its numerous programs, particularly AYuTe NextGen, the organisation supplied the catalytic financing and market knowledge that these innovators required to iterate and scale their agritech solutions to smallholder farmer challenges.
