Among many benefits, Ncondezi Coal Company Mozambique Limitada (NCCML) wanted to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that had the ability to report in multiple currencies. “Sage 300 ERP Advanced (previously known as Sage ERP Accpac 200) has provided us with the option to report in both US Dollars (USD) and Mozambican Meticais (MZN) using general ledger consolidations. It has effectively automated a process that was done manually outside the financial system, providing a substantial time saving,” says Heather O’Toole, group financial controller for Ncondezi Coal Company Limited (NCCL Ncondezi Group).
Ncondezi Group, is a near term integrated thermal coal and power generation company, focused on the phased development of its Ncondezi Project, located in the Tete Province in Northern Mozambique, which has a 4.7 JORC resource, capable of supporting a large scale, long life operation. The first phase of development is a 300MW integrated mine and power plant project.
AccTech Systems’ vast experience in the mining environment contributed to the choice as a software vendor. “A definite challenge was that NCCML was running a legacy accounting system that needed to be replaced. Our tried and tested implementation methodology ensured a smooth transition. Sage 300 ERP Advanced is a feature-rich financial management application and we provided NCCL with the tools they needed to monitor and control their business procedures and processes from any of its sites,” says Tertius Zitzke, chief executive officer of AccTech Systems.
The implementation has also left scope for growth, says Zitzke. “The initial implementation at NCCML has only included financial modules. However Sage 300 ERP Advanced does make allowance for the addition of complementary modules to the financial suite as and when the client requires it. The mining company is looking at adding distribution with Sage ERP’s eWorkflow in the near future.”
“At the core of Sage 300 ERP Advanced, is strong financial, operational, business intelligence and customer relationship management features and capabilities,” says Keith Fenner, senior vice-president for sales at Sage ERP Africa. “The system excels at supporting companies that operate from multiple locations with international requirements that makes it an ideal fit for the Ncondezi Group. Sage 300 ERP Advanced was designed for small to medium companies with up to 20 users and provides a scalable set of ERP solutions that can grow as the company grows,” says Fenner.
O’Toole says the implementation of Sage 300 ERP Advanced has been beneficial. “It has provided seamless integration of all our financial modules into the general ledger. The accurate and live reporting of financial information has significantly aided our decision-making process, as has the ability to report financials in both MZN and USD. I would highly recommend the ERP solution to any company,” concludes O’Toole.
