Accounting software company Sage Pastel has unveiled two new additions to its Sage Evolution system for the Kenyan market.

The new enterprise resource planning (ERP) modules, namely Evolution Mobile and Evolution Service Manager, are targeted towards local entrepreneurs and business owners.

According to Sage officials, the new modules are planned to help local business owners move beyond accounting as their businesses grow into more strategic, forward-looking organisations.

Evolution Mobile is expected to help extend business beyond the office and into the field.

Meanwhile, Evolution Service Manager is an integrated solution targeted at helping businesses schedule and manage the rental, servicing, repair and maintenance of assets, either for customers or for in-house assets in industries such as agriculture and mining.

Nikki Summers, Sage Pastel’s East Africa regional manager, has said in a statement that in a dynamic market such as Kenya, businesses are constantly changing and modernising to be more competitive.

“A salesperson can use customised dashboards to instantly access real time customer and inventory on their handheld device. A quick search will give them item quantities and prices, allowing them to create on-the-spot quotes. Customers can accept terms by physically signing a handheld tablet for instance, so deals can be negotiated and closed in one meeting.”

Summers further explained that Sage Evolution’s mobile applications are mobile sales tools that offer both online and offline modes.

“This allows the programmes to operate even when users are out of 3G ranges and still ensure an automated and seamless integration back into Sage Evolution ERP,” she said.
