TECNO Ghana plans to introduce a Techno brand of affordable smartphones into the Ghanaian market starting on June 1.

The introduction of this new range of smartphones comes on the back of the company's recent award for "Mobile Phone of the Year" at the Mobile World Ghana Telecom Awards.

“The smartphones will give users access to several applications including, WhatsApp and others,” said, J. K. Asante, Head of Media and Communications at Tecno Ghana.

Asante also said, the smartphones target young people who enjoy the use of modern features such as Android and Google applications on their phones.

He assured Ghanaians that the Tecno smartphones would be of high quality and relatively affordable to meet the tastes and pockets of customers.

Tecno phones, which are imported from China with specifications from Tecno Ghana Limited, currently have 60% to 80%of Ghana’s mobile phone market share.

Tecno Ghana has handsets that take up to four SIM cards, however several customers have been complaining about durability and other challenges they faced with their handsets.

The company has assured customers that it would increase working to improve on the quality of its brand to ensure value for money.

It also announced, it would soon establish an assembling plant in Ghana and start assembling the handsets in the country to provide more jobs for the locals.
