Ticketmaster, the ticket marketplace, is acquiring Quicket, a key player in Africa's general admission event and festival ticketing, to further support the continent's fast growing live events business.

Ticketmaster, which entered the market in 2022, serves some of South Africa's top festivals, sports, music, theater, and venue clients.

According to the two parties, their collaboration with Quicket, which is known for its self-service platform and event organizer tools, will expand on this success by offering solutions for events of all sizes, from small clubs to large festivals and stadiums.

They also said that with Quicket's expansion into Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana, the acquisition will allow more African venues, artists, and promoters to benefit from Quicket's regional experience and Ticketmaster's global reach.

According to a statement from the two companies, their collaboration would also allow for the spread of digital technologies such as secure encrypted mobile ticketing throughout the continent.

Mark Yovich, president, Ticketmaster said: “Partnering with Quicket will supercharge our mission to elevate Africa's dynamic live events to the global spotlight they truly deserve. Together, we are igniting a new era of unparalleled growth for African entertainment."

For James Tagg, managing director, Quicket, over the past 13 years, he said his team empowered event creators across the continent to deliver exceptional experiences through our ticketing platform.

He added: “Partnering with Ticketmaster marks a landmark moment in connecting African artists to a global audience and enhancing the experience for local fans and promoters alike.”
