MTN Rwanda reports significant gains on 4G expansion

The telco says this initiative marks a significant to protect the planet and promote sustainable business practices.

Providing its quarterly financial results, the telco says it completed the modernisation of 140 network sites in different parts of the country during the quarter.

The telco is seeing growth in fibre-to-the-home, 4G adoption as well as usage of its MoMo services.

The telco launched 4G-enabled smartphone, IKOSORA+, as part of the Connect Rwanda 2.0 campaign during a ceremony in Kirehe.

LigaData's software solutions and services are used by over 30 communication service providers globally, who serve over 350 million users.

The goal is for all users in the East African country of 14 million to have access to a 4G-enabled phone.

According to the telco, this has resulted in a 25.7% increase in smartphone penetration, leading to increased mobile internet use.

The telecom provider says it will continue to invest in Rwanda and is committed to continuing to work with the government.

As the demand for high-quality services grows, the telco is the latest to expand its network in East Africa.

Following the government’s nixing of a monopoly licensing deal, the mobile operators received modified licenses, enabling them to upgrade their networks.
