Camtel pushes for women inclusion in the digital economy

The additional funds will help Cameroon reach its objective of covering the country with 5,000 video surveillance cameras linked to 17 control centres, according to the government.

Minette Libom Li Likeng, Cameroon's minister of posts and telecoms, has asked for a probe in order to protect customers in the future.

According to Camtel executives, the new initiatives aim to make technology and innovations key to business development in the country.

The consultant will have 90 days to conduct marketing, regulatory, and technology assessments to determine the viability of Camtel's mobile money programme.

The network infrastructure expansion is part of the country's efforts to establish itself as a hub for digital transformation in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2023.

Camtel did not provide specifics on the incident, but stated that it occurred on September 5 at the West African Cable System landing point in Batoke.

Both firms have pledged to strengthen their partnership, which was created in 2020, in order to expand their telecoms portfolio.

The latest order, which addresses anti-competitive conduct, was issued in response to complaints about service quality.

MTN, Orange, Camtel and Nexttel will cumulatively pay fines amounting to $9.8 million.

Plan International, mobile operators and government this week committed to advocate for girls’ equitable access to ICT.

The telco intends to expedite new investments in infrastructure as it  seeks to overtake MTN, Orange and Camtel.
