Vodacom Group unveils plan to train a million African youths

The Egyptian operating arm of Vodacom shows positive growth and performance, as it further commits to the market.

In the current reporting period, M-PESA contributed 42.9% of Safaricom's service revenue, totalling $600.09 million.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Competition Tribunal stated that the proposed deal was rejected after relevant industry consultation.

Vodafone, which owns 65.1% of Vodacom and is led by Margherita Della Valle as CEO, requested to be admitted as a friend of the court to offer assistance to its subsidiary.

The visit came as Safaricom announced it is focusing on growing operations for Ethiopia's digital future, which would be important in driving growth.

Last week, the telco hosted a full-day data protection and management workshop in Lesotho.

The company boosted its investments in new spectrum in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, and Tanzania, as well as the number of 4G sites across the portfolio.

The telco advised shareholders that financial services are "a clear strategic priority" for the Group and would continue to be the greatest component of its revenue beyond mobile services.

The telco says  one single radio unit will reduce the cost of Vodacom’s 4G/5G network rollout in the country.

The telco celebrated its 30th anniversary by promising to expand its financial services, which have become a lucrative business for the company.

Introduced during a press conference in Maseru this week, Vodacom hopes the smart tracking solution will improve asset management and security.
