The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education stated yesterday that it will roll out the "One Pupil, One Tablet- One Student, One Laptop" programme nationally in 2026.

Zimbabwe yesterday revealed an ambitious plan to ensure that every pupil and student, regardless of geographic location, has equitable access to technology, digital content, and online learning resources.

This is according to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, which announced that it will be launching the “One Pupil, One Tablet- One Student, One Laptop” programme nationwide in 2026.

Torerayi Moyo, minister of Primary and Secondary Education, commented on the plan: “This bold and transformative initiative is designed to modernise the learning environment in both primary and secondary schools by equipping learners with personal digital devices.”

He continued: “This programme is a critical step toward bridging the digital divide between urban and rural schools, and it aligns with our broader vision of building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready education system.”

Moyo further stated that the Ministry is working closely with stakeholders, development partners, and the private sector to guarantee the initiative's successful implementation.

“The future of education in Zimbabwe is digital, and we are committed to making that future accessible to every learner. Education is the foundation of national development. Let us build it with innovation, equity, and purpose, he said.
