EcoCash Holdings, a Zimbabwean fintech company, has changed its name to TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Ltd after shareholders overwhelmingly approved the name shift at an extraordinary general meeting last Friday.
The company is expected to start trading under its new name on July 23.
This renaming procedure follows the company's new strategic direction, which focuses on digital banking and innovation through its subsidiary, Steward Bank, which will also be rebranded as TN CyberTech Bank Limited.
The name change was prompted by the company's restructuring in April 2024, when it transferred its operations, including EcoCash, VAYA Technologies, and Econet Insurance, to Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited.
This move changed EcoCash Holdings into a bank holding company, with Steward Bank as the only retained asset.
Steward's control has changed since then, as TN Asset Management, owned by Tawanda Nyambirai, founder of TN Holdings, acquired the majority stake in the company.
Charmaine Daniels, company secretary, announced the meeting's vote results in a statement to shareholders on Tuesday, revealing that more than 99.99% accepted the name change.
"The new name is effective from the date of issuance of the certificate of change of name by the Registrar of Companies."
