Zetes goes green and is awarded ISO 14001 certification

Johannesburg, 08 Jul 2014

Zetes, provider of identification and mobility solutions for goods and people, announces it has been awarded ISO 14001 certification for its travel and identity document and card production site.

Zetes has already received recognition for its quality standards and holds accreditation under ISO 27001 for its secure document production site and under ISO 9001 for its quality management system. The purpose of the new ISO 14001 international standard is to control the impact of industrial activity on the environment. In spite of Zetes' business already having a relatively low ecological footprint, the management team has decided to establish environmental management system procedures and reaffirm its commitment to environmental protection.

Zetes employees have been involved in the process and a Green Team of volunteers set up to develop environmental initiatives and ensure the following objectives are met:

* Reduction and responsible management of waste;
* Sustainable management of raw materials;
* Responsible energy use;
* Ecological management of the building and its surroundings.

Sylvain Constancio, Zetes' Security & Quality manager says, "Standard ISO 14001 provides the framework for a managerial initiative designed to protect the environment. In addition, having a certified environmental management system has almost become a vital condition for obtaining new projects where ecological initiatives are taking on increasing importance. We have reassessed all Zetes' processes in terms of environmental impact and can already see improvements, in particular in the use of recycled paper, recycling of all PVC waste and the purchase of more energy-efficient computer equipment and production machinery."

Thanks to this new certification, Zetes has become an even more reliable partner by offering quality products with a controlled ecological impact which meet strict security requirements.
