Zambia plans to expand the deployment of Starlink kits to connect healthcare facilities to the internet.
The rollout initiative, which is part of the ongoing Solar for Health project, aims to provide internet access to 400 health facilities, ensuring reliable connectivity even in remote clinics.
The Ministry of Technology and Science announced this following the release of the 2026 National Budget.
"This deployment has strategically focused on connecting administrative and public-facing institutions where conventional internet access is difficult," said Felix Mutati, minister of technology and science.
During the budget presentation, the finance minister stated that bridging the digital divide remained a top priority, with major investment going into communication infrastructure and satellite technologies to offer essential services to underserved and unserved areas.
The Ministry of Technology and Science has welcomed the budget, and particularly hailed the rollout of Starlink kits countrywide.
"This deployment has strategically focused on connecting administrative and public-facing institutions where conventional internet access is difficult," Mutati said.
He added: "The 2026 budget’s focus on digital infrastructure signals the government’s determination to utilise technology as a primary engine for inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction, particularly in rural and remote areas.”
