In its ongoing efforts to go paperless and embrace digital transformation, Zambia's e-government section, SMART Zambia Institute, demonstrated its new paperless system at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Lusaka to improve service delivery via technology.

According to the e-government division, if fully deployed, the Smart Office System will allow the Ministry to have an operational e-registry from the province to the district levels.

The move will be game changer for the e-registry, which manages massive amounts of data, while also saving the government millions of dollars in stationery costs.

The SMART Office solution also addresses long-standing concerns such as missing files and misclassification of documents.

The government's efforts to digitise its processes and increase efficiency are focusing on additional public institutions, such as the Public Service Management Division, Ministries of Finance, and Education.

“The solution is part of the government's efforts to digitise its operations and improve efficiency,” said SMART Zambia in an update.
