Zambia has taken a major step towards digital policing and modern law enforcement systems.
It has equipped its police personnel with the necessary information and communication technology skills in accordance with the e-government policy.
Yesterday, 29 police officers concluded their three-month in-house training at the Zambia Police Training College in Lilayi.
In keeping with the college's commitment to gender equality, the cohort had 14 male and 15 female officers.
They also finished an in-house course on manual transmission vehicle driving.
Mubita Nawa, deputy division commander, congratulated the officers.
“Completing a course in driving and ICT skills is not just a personal achievement. It is a step towards building a more professional, capable, and versatile police service,” Nawa said.
This initiative forms part of the Zambia Police Service (ZPS) internal capacity-building program aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and preparedness in enforcement.
In a statement, the ZPS said: “As the Zambia Police Service continues its modernisation efforts, training programmes like this remain vital in building a skilled, adaptable, and inclusive workforce ready to meet the demands of 21st-century policing.”
