Zamani Telecom, a Niger-based operator, has chosen Hayo as its exclusive partner for application-to-person (A2P) monetisation and SMS firewall solutions.

According to a statement, Hayo will test, identify, and prevent fraud across Zamani's (previously Orange Niger) traffic to boost profitability, sustainability, and trust in its A2P SMS business.

It will also implement innovative pricing strategies, which will increase traffic volumes and prioritise high-value OTT segments, according to the company.

Hayo said its SMS Firewall solution detects and blocks A2P SMS traffic that is being terminated into the telco’s home network over grey routes.

In addition, it also ensures that all A2P SMS is terminated via official white-listed routes and charged accordingly, enabling tech giants like Alibaba, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Temu, TikTok, and many others to deliver A2P SMS traffic in the West African country using a reliable model.

“Our partnership will increase Zamani’s competitiveness and ensure we maximise the value of all traffic on its network,” said Paul Loveridge, executive vice president for carrier services at Hayo.

“As the international telecoms landscape increases in complexity, we’re putting a strong focus on adding value for customers, while advising on the digital solutions they need to be successful,” he added.

“Our A2P monetisation strategies and SMS Firewall solutions ensure that operators are free from fraud and proactively block traffic from illegitimate sources. We’re providing on-the-ground innovation in Niger that will benefit the entire mobile ecosystem in the country,” said Feraz Ahmed, CEO at Hayo.
