Vodacom blocks 199 scamming numbers

South African mobile operator Vodacom says it has blocked almost 200 numbers from its network, as they were allegedly use for scamming.

The blocking of these numbers comes after the company launched a campaign that allows customers to anonymously report SMS scam messages on the company's Facebook page.

“We have blocked 199 scammers to date,” said Ashleigh Dubbelman, Vodacom corporate communications manager.
