Virtual ITWeb Security Summit: Seven keynotes to look out for

ITWeb’s 15th annual Security Summit is set to take place as a virtual event from 25 to 28 August.

A thousand people have registered to attend the plenary sessions, tracks, demo labs and workshops over the four days.

More than 50 cyber security experts and seven international keynotes will cover today’s most topical cyber security issues under the overall theme “Increasing your cyber agility to build secure ecosystems”.

Here are the highlights of the programme:

Day 1, Tuesday 25 August, keynotes:

1. The impact of COVID-19 on cyber security

Charl van der Walt, head of security research, Orange Cyberdefense (South Africa)

2. Lessons from failure: How cyber security professionals can learn from analytic mistakes in other fields

George Beebe, VP and director of studies, Center for National Interest (USA)

3. Security as a business enabler: Making the business case for security

Jo Stewart-Rattray, director of information security and IT assurance, BRM Advisory (Australia)

Day 2, Wednesday 26 August, keynotes:

1. How to fix the humans: Cyber security and human factors

Dr Suelette Dreyfus, academic specialist, School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne (Australia)

2. Alliance power for cyber security

Dr Kenneth Geers, senior fellow, Atlantic Council; ambassador, NATO Cyber Centre (USA/Mozambique)

3. News from the kingdom and tales from the colonies

Uri Rivner, chief cyber officer and co-founder, BioCatch (Israel)

Day 3, Thursday 27 August, keynotes:

Quantum reckoning: The coming day when quantum computers break cryptography

Roger A Grimes, data-driven defence evangelist, KnowBe4 (USA)

The fourth annual instalment of ITWeb’s Security Summit hackathon, hosted in collaboration with Geekulcha, starts today (24 August). This year’s theme is centred on solutions for a post-COVID-19 world and will see participants attempting to ‘hack the virus’.
