Organisers behind this year's Innovation Africa Summit, scheduled from 30 September to 2 October in Kampala, Uganda, say education and ICT ministers from 30 countries have confirmed their attendance at the event.
Innovation Africa 2015, taking place at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, will be the fifth in the series of education and technology summits staged annually in different African countries.
Event organisers, AfricanBrains, has announced that among countries that had confirmed attendance were: Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe.
"Both industry and government are looking forward with anticipation to Innovation Africa 2015 because it gives leading industry players up-close opportunities to share the most up-to-date industry developments in education and ICT with more than 200 government officials in over 400 focused pre-arranged meetings," said Patrick Emmanuel Muinda, Ministry of Education Assistant Commissioner, Communication & Information Management in Uganda.
In a statement organisers have said that 200 government officials comprising of ministers, secretaries of state, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries and director generals will be joined by board level members from "some of the world's leading education & tech companies including HP, Intel, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Pearson, Canon, Samsung amongst others."
As well as engaging with government officials, many of these leading international operators will be looking at investment opportunities in Uganda.
"Our goal as organisers is to attract increasing investment into education and technology in Africa through building meaningful, widely beneficial public-private partnerships," said John Glassey, AfricanBrains Chief Executive Officer.
The previous Innovation Africa summits took place in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana and last year in Rwanda.
This year's summit is being hosted by the government of Uganda led by host Dr. Jessica Alupo, Minister of Education, Science, Technology & Sports.
The Ministry will be hosting meetings throughout the summit with industry investors who can bring new technologies, skills and added value to Uganda's education sector.
