Egypt’s Turuq secures first external investment to expand logistics technology.

Egyptian logistics start-up Turuq Innovations has secured its first external investment from venture capital firm Den VC to strengthen its technology infrastructure and expand its e-commerce fulfilment operations, according to an interview with co-founder Ahmed Atta published by EnterpriseAM on 27 October.

The investment amount was not disclosed.

Founded in 2023 by Atta and Karim Kamal, Turuq provides warehousing, inventory management, order processing and last-mile delivery services through an integrated logistics platform.

The Cairo-based company has developed proprietary warehouse management and courier management software to coordinate inventory, dispatch and deliveries. It has also introduced F.I.R.M., an artificial intelligence layer designed to identify unreliable order updates and improve delivery information.

Atta told EnterpriseAM that Turuq processes between 50,000 and 100,000 orders a month and has served more than 300 merchants since launching.

The company operates a fulfilment hub in Cairo's Fifth Settlement and a sorting centre in Maadi, with a combined warehouse space of approximately 1,500 square metres.

Atta said the business was already profitable before receiving external investment, reporting gross margins of 40% to 45% and net margins of 10% to 15%.

The funding will support the development of its corporate accounting systems, marketing operations, regulatory compliance and technology infrastructure as the company prepares for higher order volumes.

Turuq is also developing a micro-fulfilment model that distributes inventory and order processing across smaller facilities. The approach is intended to reduce delivery bottlenecks and improve service reliability.

Beyond Egypt, the company is considering expanding its software business into Saudi Arabia by licensing its warehouse management technology to local logistics operators rather than immediately establishing physical facilities.

The investment follows Turuq's participation in InvestIT, a programme run by Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, powered by Flat6Labs.

The company is positioning its combination of logistics operations and proprietary software as an alternative for online merchants seeking fulfilment services without building their own distribution infrastructure.
