Mobile operator Telecel has lodged a complaint with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) over alleged “unfair” business practices by rival operator, Econet Wireless.
According to Zimbabwean newspaper NewsDay Telecel has written a complaint to Potraz raising concerns over poor connectivity between the two networks.
The issue of poor connectivity between the operators follows Telecel’s recently launched promotion which resulted in tariffs being slashed by nearly 50% across all networks, the newspaper reported.
Potraz has not confirmed receipt of the complaint.
Telecel, however, did confirm on its twitter account that its network was having connectivity problems with an unnamed mobile phone operator.
“We’re currently having interconnection issues with a network. We’re advised they’re looking into it,” read one of Telecel’s tweets.
Telecel is one of three mobile operators in the southern African country, including Econet and state owned Netone.
As the second largest telco, Telecel has some 2.5 million subscribers.
