Chinese phone manufacturer TECNO Mobile has hinted on plans to launch a manufacturing plant in Nigeria, if the country’s policies would favour such a decision.
This announcement was made by vice president of TECNO group, Arif Chowdhury during the launch of Tecno P3 mobile phone in Nigeria.
"Nigeria is TECNO's biggest market in terms of volume and Lagos will be the location of the plant because it is not just the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria but also the economic capital of Africa," Chowdhury said.
Public relations manager of TECNO, Boukali Mounir, stated that the company wants “to show that the it is interested in having long term investment in Nigeria and to give back to the society,” the Vanguard reported.
Mounir said that the new plant would enable Nigerians to get jobs.
TECNO’s commitment to the country was also cemented by the launch of the new phone which is an entry level smartphone fitted with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
