ICT services provider Business Connexion (BCX) has acquired leading office automation solutions firm Panabiz Nigeria, according to a Business Day report.

However, the value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Nigerian company Panabiz operates in four major segments of office automation: namely imaging products, managed print services, document management and unified communications, according to the company's website.

The company is also the sole representative for Canon for their entire range of imaging solutions and the NEC range of unified communication solutions in Nigeria.

South Africa’s Business Day newspaper reported that BCX said that even though "market data is difficult to come by in Nigeria", it sees opportunity for growth in that area.

"There has been a massive growth in our business. Panabiz was the distributor of Canon in Nigeria, where we see the big push is the managed print services; we bought over existing contracts and maintenance contracts. We have presence in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt," BCX Nigeria managing director, Ian McAlpine was quoted.

McAlpine added, "Managed print services is a new market. They are willing to pay for consumption instead of buying a machine. Our focus is enterprise. There are 21 banks in Nigeria and the telecoms industry is very big. We see significant opportunities there."

Last year Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed BCX stated that it would focus on sustainable, organic growth, and the its growth strategy into the rest of Africa, strategic acquisitions focussing on long-term sustainability and cost containment.

BCX's international operations include Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, the UK and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
