Somalia's Ministry of Communications and Technology is working with the country's telecom providers to improve service quality and strengthen public-private sector partnership.
This follows the National Multi-Stakeholder Consultation in collaboration with the International Telecommunications Union, which took place earlier this month to enhance the nation’s digital transformation strategy (2025-2030).
Held by minister of communications and technology, Mohamed Adam Moalim, yesterday in Mogadishu, the high-level meeting with the chief executives of telcos reviewed the progress of the sector, existing challenges, and the state’s long-term vision for a digitally connected nation.
According to the ministry, Moalim emphasised the government’s commitment to digital transformation and the establishment of a modern infrastructure that delivers reliable, accessible, and innovative services to the Somali people.
It further noted that the meeting is part of a broader strategy to enhance cooperation between the government and telecommunications firms, accelerate digital progress, and advance the East African nation’s communications and technology ecosystem.
“Our goal is to make Somalia one of the leading countries benefiting from modern technology. As a government, we are consistently working to provide digital services that simplify the lives of our citizens, while engaging local professionals and experts,” commented Moalim.
Telcos in the country include Hormuud Telecom, Somtel, Telesom, and Golis Telecom.
