Electronics firm Samsung Africa announced the launch of its digital village in the Volta Region of Ghana.

According to Samsung the digital village will provide access to advanced information and communication technologies, education and health services to under-resourced areas, bridging the digital divide and serving as a catalyst for local business development and government service delivery.

Ghana's digital village will include a solar powered internet school,a solar powered tele-medical centre, and a solar power generator that powers up the admin centre, which can be used as office space for local entrepreneurs and nearby schools or community centre personnel.

Samsung has also launched digital villages across Africa in regions like DRC, Gabon, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa and Sudan.
